In about forty years it will. The machine will make a digital copy of all the atoms in any object, and send it over the net where it can be PRINTED. This will work on books, pizza, and yes, human beings. You can have printable people. Amazing what technology can do. Even more amazing is what technology will do.
Actually, they already have a prototype that is capable of ‘printing out’ artificial organs. Right now it can replicate tissue of an organ based on the recipients DNA. sorry, don’t have a link for reference.
I heard printing organs is technically possible, but the dna is so complex it would take about 300 years to process the information required to make a fingernail
Well, at the moment they use scaffolding, but yeah the organ thing is real. Not in commercial use yet, though.
Bear in mind most of the human genome project was done in the last few months of its operation, and it took a decade. Technology progresses exponentially. It’s crazy…
I hope it wasn’t Mitch Albom leaving behind his cheesy, sentimental book, “Tuesdays With Morrie” (Although it would explain why the other guy was so eager to return it)
The telephone call made me chuckle
Are those rotary phones?
ahahaha, I didn’t even notice that. It makes the comic that much better.
Rotary phones tend to break the laws of physics more efficiently than other types of phones.
it would be soooo awesome if that would work … 🙂

I love how you say this like it’s a certainty.. Like you’re a telemarketer from 40 years in the future, educating us of your ways.
Don’t be ridiculous, replicators won’t be invented til at least the 23rd century. D:
what if you called someone when u weere in the shower…..?
What happens when you drop a toaster in a tub? That should answer what happens if you call while in the shower.
Yes the toaster is plugged in the electrical outlet.
Would probably amaze you to learn that a startling high number of Americans have phones installed in their showers….

I bet anti Piracy will LLOOOOOVE that
I’m loving the deeply disurbed expression on that guy’s face!!!!
I hope it wasn’t Mitch Albom leaving behind his cheesy, sentimental book, “Tuesdays With Morrie” (Although it would explain why the other guy was so eager to return it)
Man, it must be really bad if you’re willing to post about it on entirely unrelated comics and make yourself look like a total dickwad to bash it.
That book was a book on metaphysics. This whole thing is explained in the 3rd chapter.
That’s why I love rotary phones.
😛
who says shoot any more?
Men who fold space can say what they want.
damn right
I SAY “SHOOT” ALL THE TIME!! 😛
I don’t get it, why does it matter if its a rotary phone? it’s still messed up!
I want this on a T-Shirt
Poor guy looks so confused . . .
At last! Feasible, vaguely enjoyable phone sex!
Also. Eww.
quantum computers are here at last
The laws of physics just got screwed.
– Why did he call me from the next cubicle to return my book? This is not my book…
The book had a deeply disturbing front cover.
That caveman really does smell, too.
Haha, the facial expression in the last panel is priceless. 😀
i have a phone like that. i used it to return my neighbour’s dog.
imagine being struck by lightning, it would be killing to birds with one phone…
last panel thought bubble: “What the hell, why do I own a rotary phone??”
I think the horror comes not from the phone, but from the realization that he just did something only comic characters can do. Next logical step…
haha, the guy’s expression in the last panel is priceless
Oh man, I remember that call. I still lose sleep trying to figure that one out.
I wish you would make a *ahemsecretahem* comic for this one =D
