‘Rainy day’ isn’t normally meant literally – they mean a day where you find yourself needing more money than you have (not wanting, like for shoes or movies, but needing, like for food and/or housing to maintain your standard of living. For the first, you’d just be saving money in general and not mention rain)
Im saving all my money for my “end of days” fund. I just hope it isn’t the kind of apocalypse where afterward, money doesn’t matter. That would be some ‘hidden comic’ justice in my life.
Yeah– makes more sense to invest in stuff that might be useful in a disaster. But even then, you don’t know what sort of disaster might strike, so it’s hard to prepare.

I have met lots of people who thought this was the actual meaning of saving money for a rainy day.
